Prof. José Castillo

Prof. Castillo possesses an experience of more than 35 years as clinical neurologist and 30 years as researcher in neurosciences. He led the establishment of the Stroke Unit of the University Clinical Hospital of Santiago de Compostela (CHUS), the Neurosciences Area of the CHUS (2008) and the Clinical Neurosciences Research Laboratory (2005). Prof. Castillo also led the creation of the Neurovascular Research Network of the Carlos III Institute (Spanish Ministry of Health), of which he is the national coordinator, and that counts with more than 100 associated neuroscientists. With more than 500 publications (including 17 books, 67 book chapters, 395 original articles, 8 patents, and 5 references in the ESO -European Stroke Organization- Stroke Management Guidelines) Prof. Castillo is making a notable scientific contribution at international level (with an cumulative impact factor of >1000 in the last 10 years, ca. 7200 citations, about 700 per year since 2005, and a h-index of 46).
In the MADIA project, he will be in charge in the supervision of the recruitment of blood and CSF samples from AD and PD patients.
